I was watching the Microsoft’s session on G4 and they introduced a lot of interesting new games as well as the new hardware upgrade for the Xbox 360. To start out the introduced the new Rock Band game and this time it’s The Beatles!?! I am not a big fan of The Beatles and not sure how successful it will be but Microsoft thinks it will be a big hit.
A lot more games were introduced but there are a few I want to talk about. One is the sequel to the zombie slaying game Left 4 Dead and that is Left 4 Dead 2! This game will have 4 new characters and is based in a new location. It was hard to tell where it’s based but new weapons were introduced. one of them is a chain saw! Can’t wait to try it out!
Another game they showed off was another Splinter Cell game. Forgot the name ATM but looks pretty interactive. I love sneaking games and this one looks fun. Speaking of sneaking games there was a shocking announcement made today. Hideo Kojima announced that the next Metal Gear game will be Exclusively on the Xbox 360! That is correct! They have pulled away from Sony and will work with Microsoft for a while. Don’t blame them. The Metal Gear franchise started with Nintendo and went to Sony for a while and now with Microsoft. Not a total shocker but hate the game will only be for Xbox 360 unlike Meta Geal Solid 4 for the PS3 that I have yet bought.
Lastly I want to mention the latest technology they plan to release in the next year or two. It’s called “Project Natal” and it helps get rid of the controller completely! You may say “well how am I supposed to play my games?” The new controller is and I quote “you”! It’s a new motion captureing hardware that captures in real time. Unlike the Wii that uses the wand for motion capture…This captures your whole body movement! A sample video was shown where everything you do it fully interactive with whatever game you play.
The next thing related to this was an interactive AI program codenamed “Milo”
Milo I think was supposed to be a 12 year old boy. Watching this video clip creeps me out every time I watch it. AI has evolved so much these past few years and this one surpasses them all so far!
